Women in Advertising Panel 2023
The Women in Advertising panel event provides a platform for women in Richmond who lead the pack in industries like advertising, marketing, and public relations. We will have the opportunity to hear about their experience with challenges and successes coupled with inspiration for the future of women in the industry.
Speakers on the panel are:
Heather Garrett Flores, Executive Producer, Parkwood Creative
Heather has over 20 years of production experience, creating content ranging from TV spots, short films, television programs, web content, training programs, and has spent time filming in most US states and abroad. She has Produced and Directed projects for Hamilton Beach, US Navy, Giant Foods, Allianz, Virginia Lottery, Meta, Amtrak, and Capital One. As the Executive Producer at Parkwood Creative, Heather has an active hand in creative concepting, producing, project and budget management, directing, and overseeing of all post-production. She is a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, lover of curry, and an active yogi. Heather lives in Richmond, VA with her husband and is a Mama to two teenagers and a toddler. She's a graduate of James Madison University (BA - English) and Griffith University in Queensland, Australia (MA Honors - Media Production).
Bailey Grandis, Art Director, Yebo
Bailey is an Art Director, which means she makes a lot: broadcast and bumpers and billboards, social that sings, and bonus content no one asked for. She makes a director’s treatment for the director. She makes mood boards and mockups and a mean mocktail. You could call her old school. Yes, she knows the band on her shirt and probably how to play their tunes too. She’s got access to the highest of res tech, but prefers her trusty ol’ 35mm.
Natalie Baxter, Research Manager, Good Run Research
A graduate of VCU’s strategic advertising program, Natalie has worked on projects for local businesses and non-profits in RVA. She’s stretched into a variety of roles including account management, outreach, research, and strategy. She excels at doing extensive research that digs deep into subcultures and trends, which helps her bring meaningful stories to life. What she likes best about consumer research is putting the pieces of the puzzle together through conversations and social listening. Natalie appreciates collaborating with others to bounce ideas off of one another to get to the very best ones.
Catherine Meadows, Owner & Producer, COLLECTORstudios
Catherine Meadows is the owner and producer at COLLECTORstudios, a video production agency that specializes in storytelling and commercial work. Catherine has been working in the advertising world as a producer since 2015 and before that, produced events. She graduated with her bachelors in business marketing in 2012 and has continued to pave her way into the marketing and advertising industry. She has worked with large companies, such as Under Armour, to working with small towns in Virginia to develop their brand. As a mom of two young boys and married to her business partner, Catherine is continually reminded that we are all humans and can’t do it all on our own, but through partnership and collaboration we certainly can experience better decision making and see a much greater reward. Catherine’s style of producing and managing clients and projects was molded through her experience of managing events and then later seeing how inefficient other video companies produce projects. She believes there is an art form to organization and when you define what works best for you, as long as you deliver a strong product to a client, that is all that matters. Over the years, she has gained confidence in paving her own way in owning a small business and managing projects, all while being a mom and wife. As most people will experience, trials can hit you out of nowhere, but it’s your response in those moments that will make or break you.
Andrea Buccilla, Director + Creative Producer, Malka Media
I am a mother + director + creative producer.
After a decade teaching English and managing school operations in Mississippi and New York City, I pinched my nose, puffed my cheeks, and cannonballed into a new career in advertising and filmmaking.
Since that hard left (right?), I’ve directed and produced commercials, branded documentaries, and social content for brands across the globe. Do I miss the days of teaching and coaching middle school in Brooklyn? Damn right. But hey, I followed my dream.
That prior life is evident in my work and the way I communicate with clients, crew, and every other human involved in making good content.
