Richmond, VA - The Greater Richmond Partnership, Inc., is pleased to announce the launch of RichmondJobNet.com, a comprehensive career resource site. The site was developed to support individuals who have experienced layoffs and those interested in seeking new career opportunities in the region, a key objective of one of the Partnership’s 90-Day Action Plan strategies. The site offers job search tools, career event information, links to more than two dozen area on-line job boards, and online social networking to quickly connect job seekers with employment opportunities in the region.
Gregory H. Wingfield, president and CEO, said, "Forbes.com recently reported Richmond’s ranking as the number four city in the U.S. to find a job in 2009, but we recognize it’s a challenging environment. By providing a central site to support job seekers and promoting the many career opportunities our region has to offer, we hope to help individuals transition into new jobs in our market." He added, "It all fits into our mission of attracting new businesses and supporting the needs of existing industry. Workforce is a key variable considered by our clients and we are committed to working to keep this talent in the region. Through RichmondJobNet, we hope to provide a service to the community, learn even more about the wealth of talent here, and work to actively promote it."
In addition to the features mentioned above, the site will encourage job seekers to work their networks by providing links to a wide variety of area member associations and unique networking opportunities; consider expanding on their education using area training providers, and explore starting their own business.
Site visitors are encouraged to register to receive a periodic newsletter providing job seeking tips and news about the area economy. The first 500 site registrants will be eligible to take a no-cost career assessment through an innovative program called CareerConcourse. Developed by Chmura Economics and Analytics, the tool allows job seekers to quickly profile their preferred occupation, learn more about the demand and training requirements for that field, and scan thousands of postings on-line. Additional features enable job seekers to manage their own career portfolio, upload their resume and do additional career related research.
The Greater Richmond Partnership was launched in 1994 as a pioneering regional public-private initiative to serve as the regional economic development group for the City of Richmond and the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico. The mission is to help grow the Greater Richmond economy through the attraction of high quality jobs and new capital investment, the retention of existing businesses, and the continued improvement of the region's business climate. Since inception, the Partnership has played a key role in the attraction of more than $6.7 billion in investment by 371 new and expanding companies. This is a return on investment of $174 for every $1 in funding provided by public and private partners since 1994. For more information, please visit www.grpva.com
