NEW YORK Quiznos has chosen Interpublic Group's The Martin Agency for
creative chores on its estimated $25 million account following a review,
according to sources.
The Richmond, Va., shop beat out the incumbent, Cliff Freeman and Partners,
and another independent New York shop, The Romann Group, as well as Wieden +
Kennedy in Portland, Ore., sources said.
Client officials could not be reached; agency executives either could not be
reached or declined comment.
In a separate review for media, the Denver-based client was considering
incumbent IPG's Initiative Media in New York, as well as Camelot
Communications in Dallas, and Media Head in New York. It could not
immediately be determined if a media partner had been selected, or which
entity would handle public relations and in-store marketing for Quiznos. The
incumbents for those businesses are WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather PR in Denver
and IPG's Zipatoni in St. Louis.
Sources said the client had been considering consolidating below-the-line
duties depending on whether the lead creative agency could handle them. It
could not immediately be determined if any decision had been made on PR and
in-store marketing for the sandwich chain.
Cliff Freeman won the account in 1999.
