ATLANTA Work said it has been chosen to develop a corporate image campaign for Riggs Bank N.A.

The Richmond, Va., shop has teamed with crosstown Spurrier Media Group, which will handle planning and buying duties. Work replaces the New York office of Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, which has held the account since 1998.

Work, which would not say if a formal review took place, said it would be responsible for the bank's creative, direct mail and merchandising efforts.

"Riggs has special competencies and a unique story," said agency chairman and CEO Don Just. "We look forward to telling its story to consumers as well as business-to-business audiences."

Details on campaign spending were not available. According to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR, advertising expenditures for Riggs in the first six months of 2003 amounted to $700,000.

Riggs Bank N.A., a subsidiary of Riggs National Corp., is headquartered in Washington, D.C. The institution was founded in 1836 and has branch offices in Miami, London, the Channel Islands and Berlin.
