Barber Martin has appointed its seven Vice Presidents to serve on a newly structured and empowered Board of Directors. These seven individuals join Bob Barber and Bill Martin to complete the nine-person board.
“The formation of this new Board provides for better communications and leadership insight between the
members of the leadership team,” said Bill Martin, Co-chairman.
The Board is updating the agency’s long-term vision, operational strategy and business plan. As part of this restructuring, the Board, in its August 15 meeting, elected Robyn Deyo to the position of agency President
and Lisa Stanfi eld to agency Executive Vice President.
In addition, Barber Martin named the following members to the Board of Directors: David Owen, Vice President/
Account Services Director; Rob Arnold, Vice President/Strategic Planning; Bill Vogt, Vice President/CFO;
Patti Shulman, Vice President/Creative Director; and Babs Scroggs, Vice President/Media Director.
“This is a strong and familiar team,” said Martin. “And their energy and enthusiasm will keep the agency at a
high level of performance. We like to reinvent ourselves from time to time and push the needle up a bit.
We truly believe that nothing great is accomplished without a high level of enthusiasm, and this new
structure is already infusing that at the top and throughout the entire agency. We are extremely proud
of our management team.”
BARBER MARTIN NAMES ROBYN DEYO PRESIDENT
AND MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Robyn Deyo has been elected President of Barber Martin Advertising
by vote of the agency’s Board of Directors during their August 15
meeting. She has also been named to the Board of Directors. She
assumed her new duties on Tuesday, September 5.
Robyn has been with Barber Martin for ten years and before her
promotion was Vice President/Account Supervisor.
“We are very confi dent in Robyn and expect great things from her. Robyn is a very effective leader and has a unique talent managing agency—client relationships,” said Bob Barber, Co-chairman.
“Robyn’s promotion is part of a reorganization at the top of the agency to a younger set of leaders and a more empowered Board. We believe these changes are going to keep the agency invigorated, strong and
aggressive going into the future,” Barber said.
In addition to Robyn’s work on behalf of her national and regional clients, she has been instrumental in the development of strategy and proprietary trademarked tactical agency tools that guide client store
placement development, increase sales opportunity, and maximize
returns on advertising dollars spent.
Robyn has also been very active in the community with service on numerous boards and committees for nonprofi t organizations. She has also developed strategy for a long list of pro bono clients for the agency. Robyn served as President of the Richmond Chapter of the American Marketing Association, and during her highly successful year, the Chapter won the national Best in Class Award.
Prior to joining BMA, Robyn was Corporate Marketing Coordinator for Tanger Factory Outlet Centers
headquartered in Greensboro, NC. Robyn is a graduate of St. Andrews College in North Carolina, and a
native of Zimbabwe. She is married and has two daughters.
BARBER MARTIN NAMES LISA STANFIELD EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT
AND MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Lisa Stanfi eld has been named to the Board of Directors and
elected Executive Vice President of Barber Martin Advertising by
a vote of the agency’s Directors during their August 15 meeting.
Lisa assumed her new duties Tuesday, September 5.
Lisa has been with Barber Martin since 1991 and was
Vice President of Operations and Human Resources where she
managed agency operations, personnel, 401(k) plan and information
technology. Prior to that, Lisa managed the accounting and
traffi c/production departments at BMA.
“Lisa has been a central part of BMA’s management and operations almost since its beginning. This
promotion elevates her responsibilities in the agency’s leadership,” said Bob Barber, Co-chairman.“Her promotion is part of a reorganization at the top of the agency to a younger set of leaders.”
Prior to joining BMA, Lisa was Production Manager for Kenneth Iseman & Associates, a Richmond-based graphic design fi rm. Lisa is a graduate of the University of Virginia, is married and lives in
Chesterfi eld County.
BARBER MARTIN NAMES DAVID OWEN TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
AND VICE PRESIDENT/ACCOUNT SERVICES DIRECTOR
David Owen has been named to the Board of Directors and
promoted to head of the Account Services Department at Barber
Martin. David joined the agency in 1992 and was previously
Vice President/Account Supervisor.
“David is a highly effective account supervisor and top business development performer and he brings tremendous energy, experience and a history of success to his new position,” said Bob
Barber, Co-chairman. “We are looking forward to his leadership,
training skills and contributions to the growth of the department
and the agency.”
Prior to joining Barber Martin, David was Sales Manager at WRVA Radio, Senior Account Manager at WRVQ, and Managing Partner at Culpeper Media in Culpeper, Virginia.
BARBER MARTIN NAMES ROB ARNOLD TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
AND VICE PRESIDENT/STRATEGIC PLANNING
Rob Arnold has been named to the Board of Directors and
promoted to head strategic planning at Barber Martin. Rob
joined the agency in 1995 and excels in the areas of
strategic planning and marketing. He was previously Vice President/Account Supervisor.
“Rob has a high level of skills in marketing planning, development and execution,” said Bob Barber, Co-chairman. BMA services large national, regional and statewide clients and its reliance on
planning and execution is extremely important and a current
agency strength. This promotion will help solidify and add
emphasis and know-how to this important skill area.
Rob was formerly Vice President, Account Group Supervisor with Austin Kelley Advertising in Atlanta. And he was VP and Account Supervisor at McCann Erickson Inc. He is a graduate of
Brown University.
BARBER MARTIN NAMES BILL VOGT TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Bill Vogt has been named to the Board of Directors at Barber Martin. Hired in 1999, Bill is Vice President/CFO for the
company. He manages the agency’s $50 million in capitalized billings, fi nancial reporting and an extensive invoice audit system for television and radio station payables. “Bill brings a pragmatic, no nonsense approach to our management team,” said Bob Barber.
He is a CPA and prior to joining the agency Bill was Senior VP for BB&T. Bill was CFO for Virginia First Financial Corporation. Bill was also the COO and CFO at America Home Funding. Bill started his career at Peat Marwick in Rochester, NY. He is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University.
BARBER MARTIN NAMES PATTI SHULMAN,
VICE PRESIDENT/CREATIVE DIRECTOR, TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Patti Shulman, Vice President/Creative Director, has been named
to the Board of Directors of Barber Martin Advertising. Patti
joined the agency in 1992 as Art Director.
“Patti is an extremely talented creative director and she leads an experienced staff of award-winning writers, art directors and producers,” said Bill Martin, Co-chairman. Patti has been at the center of Barber Martin’s creative evolution that has brought the agency many national and international awards for its work. This promotion recognizes her contributions to the agency product and her promotion is part of a reorganization at the top of the agency to a younger set of dynamic leaders.
Prior to joining BMA, she was an Art Director at Earl Palmer Brown Advertising in Richmond and a successful freelance artist/illustrator and graphic designer. Patti is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and is married and lives in the City of Richmond.
BARBER MARTIN NAMES BABS SCROGGS TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Babs Scroggs has been named to the Board of Directors at Barber Martin. Hired in 1995, Babs is Vice President/Media Director. She manages a department of buyers and planners who handle media for 25 clients in over 100 markets nationally. “Babs continues to be one of our strongest assets. Clients, vendors and employees respect her media expertise tremendously,” said Bob Barber.
Prior to joining Barber Martin, Babs was the Media Director at Home Quarters and S&K Famous Brands. She was also a media supervisor and buyer at AH Robins/American Home Products. Babs is a resident of Williamsburg, Virginia. |
