Arlington, VA, August 29, 2005. - The 2005 edition of the Producer’s Handy Dandy showcasing professional voiceover talent in the Mid-Atlantic region, has been distributed to more than 6,000 producers nationwide. The compact disc with commercial and narration demos of top performers from Washington, Baltimore and Richmond is the premiere resource for advertising and public relations agencies, television programmers, political consultants, corporations, filmmakers and other producers who want quick, easy and reliable access to the best performers in the region. The 2005 Edition is the first entirely new package since 1996, and nineteen of the 85 featured performers appear for the first time.
In addition to 170 audio demos, the Producer’s Handy Dandy contains a digest of current minimum rates for AFTRA (American Federation of Television & Radio Artists) and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), as well as contact information for voiceover talent, payroll services and local production entities who underwrite its distribution.
Participation in the project is by invitation and all participating talent are active members of both AFTRA and SAG. Performers with origination capability by ISDN or MP3, as well as those who are multi-lingual are specially designated.
The 2005 Producer’s Handy Dandy is dedicated to Pat O’Donnell, Executive Director of the AFTRA/SAG office for Washington-Baltimore since 1994. O’Donnell has served professional performers since joining the DC/MD/VA office in 1976, and is nationally respected both by performers and employers for her efforts in behalf of both broadcast and freelance talent. Previous PHD honorees include Baltimore audio engineer and sound designer Louis Mills, retired voiceover artist Lary Lewman and the late Carroll S. James, Jr who founded the Producer’s Handy Dandy 25 years ago. PHD is now managed by Sheldon Smith, a nationally-known voiceover artist.
