Kissing Confessions, "Kiss & Tell" features kissing confessions from more than 50 celebs.

Richmond, VA (February 13, 2007) - Beware of kissing and telling around Richmonder Cabell Harris. If you're not careful, your amorous stories may end up being peddled on the sales floor of Macy's.

Well, maybe only if your name is Paris, Jessica or Venus. And maybe only if you agree to share your kiss on behalf of a good cause.

Harris is the man behind "Kiss & Tell," a compilation of celebrity kiss confessions that is being sold exclusively at Macy's this Valentine's Day season. More than 50 celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Jessica Alba and Venus Williams, contributed their own spit-swapping stories – sealed with a lipsticked kiss – to the custom-printed book, which benefits the American Heart Association's (AHA) Go Red For Women movement, of which Macy's is a sponsor.

The publication is a first for Harris' Work Labs, the product development division of Work Inc., which Harris originally started as an ad company in 1994. Work had assisted Macy's with advertising and branding efforts in the past; "Kiss and Tell" was just another way to solve a client's problem.

"We have a lot of different concepts and different projects that we're working on all the time – the cheapest Halloween outfits, a picnic blanket that looks like beautiful grass, a Christmas tree umbrella – and we try to find a home for them," explained Harris as he pointed out different projects in his home/workshop on Monument Ave. "When Macy's said they were looking for something for their big fundraiser for the American Heart Association and they were also looking for something to kick off their Valentine's season, I told them I thought I might have something for them."

From concept to finish, "Kiss & Tell" took two years to produce, with Harris serving as creative director and Lizzie Grubman's high-profile PR firm collecting the celebrity signatures. Advertisement

"Even though it took a while to produce, the kisses had to be collected relatively quickly," said Harris. "So they were going to the Oscars, to the Golden Globes, those types of places to round up the celebrities. We gave them all the same type of paper and they sent their autograph and their kiss back to us in a plastic CD container."

The kisses came from all sorts of high-profile personalities, including newscaster Katie Couric, actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, designer Nanette Lepore, singer Joss Stone and The Donald's wife, Melania Trump.

Some anecdotes were romantic, recalling fairy-tale kisses with husbands and boyfriends. Some were sentimental, describing unconditional affection from babies and pets. Others were humorous, evoking the painful awkwardness of young love.

And then there's Tara Reid: "A kiss is just a kiss, unless it is not just a kiss." Ok-a-ay…

In lesser hands, a celebrity kiss-themed book might come across cheesy, schmaltzy, overly pink. Instead, "Kiss & Tell" is a classy concoction, imbued with toned-down colors, sophisticated design elements and a padded hardback cover with delicate flocking.

Macy's, which ordered 70,000 copies this year, has an option to put out a second one next year, which already has Harris thinking.

"If we did this again, I would like to get Angelina Jolie's lips," said Harris with a mischievous grin. "It would be nice to have her and Jennifer Aniston on facing pages."

For Harris, the leap into publishing is right on track with his plans for Work Inc.

"As a company, in the past, we've been known pretty much as an ad agency, and we're changing quite a bit," he said. "We're always going to be doing ads, but that's just half of it. We really like creating products…and every time we jump into a new category, that gives you proof of concept. I think by getting the first one done, and done well, with a large awareness on a national scope, it gives you credibility in that category."

Work Labs already has plans for four new books in the works, including two children's books with Chronicle Books, who published "Kiss & Tell," and two novelty books for Blue Q, who produces the Dirty Girls beauty line, among many other cleverly packaged products. Additionally, Harris plans to self-publish a line of "Mini Cheats," which he describes as "Cliffs Notes for Cliffs Notes."

"It's kind of interesting," he said. "We've never done books, and now we have two for Blue Q, six of the 'Mini Cheats' and then two [children's] books. So I guess I can say we're in the publishing arena now."
